Are you ready to bring your operational policing experience to a dynamic and specialised setting? The Port of Liverpool Police are recruiting Police Constables to join our high-visibility patrol team, safeguarding one of the UK’s most vital maritime gateways.

This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to apply your skills in a new context, develop professionally, and contribute meaningfully to national and international port security.

Your role

Working on a shift basis, you will conduct high-visibility patrols across the Port Estate, maintaining acute awareness of security threats and ISPS compliance, engaging positively with internal and external stakeholders to encourage intelligence sharing and support investigations.

Another key part of the role is the management of traffic flow throughout the port, ensuring safe passage for vehicles and rail freight in line with legislation. You will also respond to incidents professionally, reporting outcomes accurately to the control room, supervision, and the Chief Officer.

The role will also involve interviewing witnesses and suspects, gathering evidence, and preparing cases for prosecution and non-crime investigations.

Who are we?

Already one of the UK’s leading port and logistics companies, we are planning substantial capital investment over the next 5 years to achieve our vision of becoming the UK’s leading port operator. We have ambitious plans to grow and transform the supply chain to benefit our customers. Our investments are decarbonizing our operations, which in turn is helping us work towards our goal of having Net Zero Port Operations by 2040. Much of our success depends on our unrivalled facilities and technology. But in our sector, it comes down to having the right talent to enable our organisation to grow.

What you’ll bring

You will have:

· Recent experience in an operational policing role.

· Enthusiasm for a fresh policing challenge in a maritime setting.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Confident communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups.

· Flexible approach to working hours and dynamic operational demands.

· Good IT literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

· Familiarity with prisoner processing and relevant legislation.

· A full valid UK Driving Licence.

· Ability to achieve vetting to NPPV2 level.

You must be able to successfully complete a national police fitness test (PPST)

What we can offer you

In addition to a competitive salary, we have a strong track record of developing our people to expand their skills and experience and develop their careers. Valuing and rewarding our workforce is important to us which is why we offer a fantastic range of flexible benefits to choose from, such as:

· 200 hours holiday per annum (plus bank holidays)

· Matched Contribution Scheme up to 10%

· Peel Ports Flexible Benefits including salary sacrifice car scheme, healthcare cash plans, Cycle2Work Scheme, critical illness insurance, gyms, retail vouchers

· Commitment to learning and personal development

· We promote good physical and mental health and can provide additional support to colleagues via our employee assistance programme when required

If you believe you have the skills and experience we are seeking and you want to join a thriving and ambitious place to work, we’d really like to hear from you!
