About Us

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering specialist counter terrorism services across the region and forming part of the national CT network. Our mission is simple yet vital: to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Police Staff  Intelligence Unit Supervisor  to join our Mersey/Cheshire Intelligence Management Unit. This is a critical leadership role where you will:

  • Lead a team responsible for the research, development, and investigation of intelligence.
  • Collaborate with partners to identify and mitigate risks and threats from terrorism or safeguarding concerns.
  • Ensure the efficient, timely, and effective receipt, assessment, and management of intelligence in line with National Standards of Intelligence Management.

This role demands flexibility, resilience, and the ability to respond to changing priorities at short notice. You will manage complex and sensitive information in support of serious, time-critical counter terrorism investigations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership skills and experience supervising staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Previous experience in counter terrorism intelligence work and systems is desirable.

Eligibility & Vetting

  • Nationality: You must be a UK national. In approved cases, dual nationals (where one nationality is British) may be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearance. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and therefore will not be able to perform their duties.
  • Security Clearance: Applicants must hold or be willing to undergo National Security Vetting (SC Enhanced) before appointment, and be prepared for Developed Vetting (DV) if required.
  • Applicants should have resided in the UK for the last 5–10 years.

For more details on vetting, visit: National Security Vetting Guidance.

Additional Information

  • The role may involve occasional travel across the North West, particularly during arrest or premises search operations.
  • If you are currently employed by a different police force, you will be required to resign and take up a contract with Merseyside Police before being seconded to CTPNW. Your service will transfer with you.

Inclusion & Diversity

CTPNW is committed to building an inclusive workforce reflective of the communities we serve. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and will make reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities.
