Established in 2009, the unit is a collaboration between the six North West Police Forces in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and North Wales. It’s made up of officers and staff from across the region who offer specialist skills and additional resources.

About NWROCU

As the lead force, Merseyside Police is seeking to recruit an Assistant Chief Constable to provide exceptional leadership for the NWROCU, positively impacting on the communities we serve.

The mission of the NWROCU is simple – to identify, disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups causing the most harm to the North West. We do this by working with our partners to gather intelligence, cracking the most serious and organised crime networks, and then seizing the assets of the criminals involved.

Established in 2009, the unit is a collaboration between the six North West Police Forces in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and North Wales. It’s made up of officers and staff from across the region who offer specialist skills and additional resources. We provide a range of specialist capabilities to tackle serious and organised crime that crosses borders in the region – these include Threat Assessment, Intelligence, Asset Recovery, and Cyber Crime. Further information about the work of the NWROCU can be found here.

About the Applicant

We are looking for an outstanding individual who has the drive and energy to support the NWROCU in providing a policing service that puts our communities at the heart of everything we do. The ideal candidate will have:-

  • Strong and demonstrable operational policing experience, understanding the changing shape of policing and the requirements of our communities
  • An ability to think strategically building collaborative partnerships inside and outside the organisation
  • Professional courage and influence to drive innovation and sustainable change

This role will suit someone who is looking to develop their career beyond Assistant Chief Constable. The role provides a deep insight to a strategic and innovative portfolio working closely with the other North West forces and partner agencies.

Candidates should be within Cohort 4 of the Police Leadership Program Stage 5 (Executive Leaders) and applications will also be considered from those who are expecting to apply for Cohort 5 and substantive ACCs on transfer. Candidates must have passed the necessary vetting checks required to attain the rank of Assistant Chief Constable before appointment.

A relocation or rent assistance package is available (if required) for the successful candidate.

Merseyside Police is committed to equal opportunities and the Chief Constable

welcomes applications for this role from all sections of the community.
