We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals to support Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in the humane dispatch of injured animals. This is a vital role requiring professionalism, responsiveness, and a strong commitment to safety and animal welfare. Successful applicants must be prepared to attend incidents at any time, including nights and weekends.

Your key responsibilities in this role may include:

  • Respond to police call-outs to carry out the humane dispatch of injured animals, often at short notice and during unsociable hours.
  • Work collaboratively with police officers and other emergency services to ensure a safe and controlled environment at incident scenes.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance when handling firearms and ammunition, both during transit and deployment.
  • Represent Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in a professional and respectful manner, delivering an effective and reliable service at all times.


Important:
 The successful candidate will be vetted by the Force Firearms Licensing department. Successful applicants will have their Firearms Certificate endorsed with a clear condition authorising their use for the humane dispatch of animals as required by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

About You

Do you hold a valid Shotgun Certificate and Firearms Certificate with an open condition?

Do you hold the DMQ HAD Award qualification?

Do you hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle for responding to call-outs?

Are you a current member of BDS or BASC (for insurance purposes)?

Do you have experience in deer management, stalking, and/or the humane dispatch of animals?
