Overview here:
Red Snapper Recruitment has developed a Virtual Investigation Support Pool to give experienced investigators access to remote and flexible investigative assignments across policing.
The model has been created in response to the growing difficulty organisations face in securing experienced investigators who are able or willing to commit to regular onsite working. It enables suitably qualified investigators to remain operational and contribute to live investigations while working remotely within customer approved systems, governance and security arrangements.
Assignments may support Major Crime, Homicide, Serious and Organised Crime, RASSO, safeguarding, public protection and other complex investigative workloads, depending on individual experience and customer demand.
Typical investigative activity depending on the assignment and the investigator’s accreditation, work may include:
Virtual investigators operate as an extension of the customer’s existing investigation teams, with operational strategy, tasking and statutory decision-making remaining with the relevant organisation.
The Virtual Investigation Support Pool is intended to widen access to experienced investigative capability by removing unnecessary geographical restrictions.
Opportunities may include:
Working arrangements will vary between customers and assignments, but the principle is to enable suitable investigative activity to be completed securely without requiring routine attendance at a customer site.
RSR is particularly interested in investigators with:
Specialist systems experience will also be recorded so candidates can be matched appropriately to individual customer environments.
RSR reviews each candidate’s investigative background and PIP currency before deployment.
This includes consideration of:
Suitable candidates will also complete an RSR PIP skills and knowledge assessment prior to final sign-off, helping to confirm current operational capability and identify any development requirements before deployment.
Security requirements vary by customer and assignment.
RSR maintains a pool of investigators holding a range of current security clearances, including NPPV clearance, and records vetting status as part of the candidate profile.
Remote working will only take place through customer approved systems and security arrangements.
RSR provides an ongoing professional development framework for investigators deployed through the Virtual Investigation Support Pool.
This can include:
Where appropriate, customers may also request an initial on-site briefing so investigators can meet the operational team, understand local processes and gain assignment-specific context.
Virtual teams can be supported by a dedicated RSR Team Supervisor responsible for:
Workers also retain access to RSR for employment, payroll, welfare and assignment support throughout their deployment.
