Join Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and play a vital role in keeping our fleet moving. As a Transport Department Stores Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our operations — making sure every vehicle is equipped, every part is where it needs to be, and every delivery runs smoothly. This is more than a stores role; it’s about directly supporting front-line policing by managing essential stock, coordinating logistics, and helping maintain the efficiency of our transport services. If you enjoy hands on work, like solving problems, and want a role where your attention to detail has a real impact on public safety, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference. You’ll work with a dedicated workshop team, gain experience using our fleet management systems, and support a service that helps keep our communities safe

About The Role.

– Receiving, unloading, checking, and stocking delivered parts and equipment
– Issuing stock and components to workshop technicians as required
– Raising orders and processing transactions using the Fleet Management System
– Using electronic parts catalogues (EPCs) to identify correct parts and pricing
– Preparing and issuing equipment for new build police vehicles
– Maintaining accurate stock levels, carrying out regular stock taking, and ensuring stores areas remain tidy, organised, and safe
– Assisting with supplier queries and internal customer service needs
– Supporting invoice processing through the Fleet Management System and SAP
– Helping with occasional deliveries, collections, or vehicle movement as required

Who and What we are looking for:

Essential:

– Must have an understanding of motor vehicle components (brakes, suspension, electrics, driveline etc.)
– Experience working in parts, stores, or stock control environments
– Confident and efficient computer skills, with the ability to process information quickly and accurately when inputting information and managing data across Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering/inventory systems.
– Full UK driving licence – manual & auto (required for Constabulary vehicle use)
– Ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely (lifting and moving heavier parts)

Desirable:

– Electronic Parts Catalogue experience
– Experience using a Fleet Management System
– Health & Safety knowledge for store/workshop environments

What’s On Offer

As members of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary police staff you will have access to a wide benefits package*, including but not limited to:

– Generous annual leave entitlement, starting at 24 days in addition to public holidays, rising to 29 after five years’ service, with the ability to accrue up to 13 days of flexi leave per year, subject to role requirements.
– Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities.
– Local Government Pension Scheme.
– Retail, holiday and leisure discounts through Hampshire Police Leisure and Sports Club or Blue Light Card.
– Excellent wellbeing support and access to the Employee Assistance Programme.
– Staff representation groups and inclusion network.
– Eye test vouchers.
– Cycle to Work Scheme, enabling staff to purchase a bicycle via salary sacrifice for healthier, environmentally friendly commuting.
