Are you an experienced firearms professional with a passion for maintaining the highest standards of safety, training, and operational excellence? We are seeking a dedicated Firearms Range & Accreditation Manager to take responsibility for the daily management and compliance of our College of Policing–approved firearms training complex.
This is a pivotal role within Matrix Operational Support, offering the opportunity to shape the quality, safety and accreditation standards that support our specialist firearms capability.
About the Role
As the Firearms Range & Accreditation Manager, you will:
- Oversee the day-to-day running, administration, and maintenance of the firearms training complex.
- Ensure all attendees adhere to strict Health & Safety requirements, maintaining a safe operational environment.
- Support the Firearms Training Manager in the annual accreditation submission process, ensuring Firearms Commanders and Instructors meet all regional and national licensing requirements.
- Uphold compliance with College of Policing standards and the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum.
- Provide expert advice and ensure accurate, timely documentation, reporting and record-keeping.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
To be successful, you must meet the following essential criteria:
Essential
- Hold a current A1 / TAQA / equivalent assessor qualification for range assessments in line with NW Regional standards.
- Be a qualified Police Range Safety Inspector, or willing to undertake training on appointment.
- Accredited in Firearms Command Training modules through the College of Policing.
- Hold relevant Health & Safety accreditation – NVQ Level 3 / IOSH.
- Strong IT skills, including MS365, NPFTC, Knowledge Hub, Chronicle, and SharePoint.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong understanding of Matrix working principles and the ability to adapt to organisational needs.
Technical Knowledge Required
You must develop and maintain in‑depth knowledge of:
- Home Office Code of Practice on Police Use of Firearms and Less Lethal Weapons
- Armed Policing APP
- Firearms Strategic Threat and Risk Assessment processes
- National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC)
- College of Policing Firearms Licensing (PSQMS)
- Annual firearms Competency Review processes
- Health & Safety legislation relevant to firearms environments
