The Special Constabulary is a voluntary body, whose officers form a vital part of the police family, working alongside their regular colleagues to police the communities of Merseyside. Specials perform a variety of police duties to support regular officers with the day-to-day policing of Merseyside – they have the same powers as regular officers, wear the same uniform and carry the same equipment as regular officers.
We are looking for talented substantive Constable who have the drive and energy to support the force in providing a policing service that puts our communities at the heart of everything we do.
Our vision is to put our communities first – we are committed to preventing crime and anti-social behaviour, through our developing approach to preventative policing, in order that we reduce the number of victims particularly those crimes that cause high harm. We are evolving our approach with the PCC to supporting victims of crime and we are dedicated to bringing more offenders to justice, whilst building in diversionary and preventative approaches.
Being a 999 and 101 Contact Resolution Officer can be challenging and no two days are the same. Whether it’s taking a report of a missing person, a burglary, an incident, or supporting someone in crisis, our Contact Resolution Officers (who you may know as 999 Call Handlers) play a vital role in our organisation, where we strive to keep our communities safe, identifying and protecting the most vulnerable, preventing crime and pursuing offenders.
As a PCSO Apprentice, you’ll work alongside trainers and experienced officers to: Engage with local communities to build trust and reduce crime Provide visible patrols to improve public safety Support vulnerable individuals and respond to incidents Gather intelligence and assist in investigations
The role of a detective constable is not dissimilar to the role of police constable; they are of the same rank but have different operational roles. As a detective you will deal with more serious and complex cases from fraud and domestic abuse to county lines and serious assaults, plus many more. Once qualified and accredited, there are also opportunities to specialise in a significant number of areas such as counter terrorism, serious and organised crime and intelligence.
Our Police Officers are our face and voice in the community. They’re on the ground, speaking to victims, preventing crime and making a real difference. They come from different walks of life but are united by the same goal – to keep communities safe.
