Applications are invited from substantive constables who are appropriately qualified to the Sergeant rank (Ospre or NPPF), including those in temporary and acting sergeant positions, from Home Office forces. Substantive Sergeants can also apply though this process for a transfer to Nottinghamshire Police.

Please allow sufficient time for first line managers to complete their sections of the application form. Late applications will not be accepted.
Candidates are required to submit the application form, the most recent Career Conversation or PDR, and the Honest Conversation prompt sheet (this must be completed by the candidates 1st line manager).
After the application window closes, all candidates will receive communication from Nottinghamshire Police regarding the next stages of the promotion process.
Interviews are currently scheduled to take place between 23 June 2026 – 3 July 2026.
In the event that the number of successful candidates exceeds the number of vacant Sergeant positions, successful candidates who are not allocated a post will be placed on a pass list. Positions will be allocated when posts become available.
Successful candidates who hold the Ospre qualification, will be required to undertake the 12 month Work Based Assessment (Step 4 NPPF) following promotion.
