Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a R2C Complex Needs Support Worker for a Women’s Aid Charity based in Nottingham.

As a Domestic Violence Specialist, you will work proactively with women with complex needs—including those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges, offending history and domestic abuse. You will deliver high-impact, outreach based support across Nottingham City, including regular sessions at Loxley House with the Safer Accommodation team. The role involves close collaboration with a range of statutory and voluntary partners, leading drop-in sessions in community settings, and providing flexible, trauma-informed support to women with severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by delivering a person centred, innovative, high-impact support to empower women to achieve safety, stability, and independence.

Location: Nottingham
Contract: 6 months (leading to permanent)
Salary: £13.88 PAYE per hour
Vetting: Enhance DBS

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to women with complex needs, including drug, alcohol, mental health issues, and domestic abuse.
  • Deliver proactive outreach support, including street outreach and home visits (where safe to do so), to engage women who may not access traditional services.
  • Support women to resettle into new communities and make sustainable changes after leaving refuge, temporary accommodation or being referred by partner agencies.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular drop-in sessions at community venues to ensure accessibility and visibility of the service.
  • Work alongside the Safer Accommodation team at Loxley House, contributing to multi-agency meetings and joint casework.
  • Advocate on behalf of women with external agencies including MARAC, courts, housing, social care, health, probation and voluntary organisations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, contribute to service outcomes, and
  • ensure compliance with policies and service standards. Promote the service widely and ensure a clear referral pathway accessible to women and key partners.
  • Contribute to team development, attend meetings, and support volunteers to enhance service capacity.
  • Undertake training and stay informed on relevant legislation, safeguarding, and best practices.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Supporting women affected by domestic abuse, including those with complex needs (e.g., substance misuse, mental and physical health and homelessness).
  • Conducting risk assessment, safety planning, and support planning.
  • Delivering outreach or community-based support(desirable).

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Practical, emotional, social, and economic issues facing women and children affected by domestic violence.
  • Housing, welfare, and policy issues relating to domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Safeguarding for adults and children.
  • The value of partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies.

Skills and Abilities

  • Manage a varied caseload, prioritising and working under pressure.
  • Ability to use a creative approach to problem solving
  • Build effective relationships with survivors and partner organisations.
  • Communicate clearly and sensitively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work flexibly, including outreach, drop-in sessions, and multi-agency settings.
  • Demonstrate a non-judgemental, trauma-informed approach.
  • Be comfortable working independently within a specialist role with access to a wider team

Qualifications

  • Women’s Aid or SafeLives Level 3 (desirable) or willingness to achieve this qualification.
