To support the Defence Serious Crime Command (DSCC) in the investigation of serious and complex crime affecting the Defence community. The role applies PIP2 level investigative expertise within a multidisciplinary major crime environment, contributing to high profile investigations and ensuring evidence is gathered, assessed, and presented to the highest standards. This position is well suited to former police officers seeking to continue using their investigative skills in a structured, specialist setting with strong CPD support.

Key Responsibilities

· Work alongside investigators, analysts, and specialist teams to develop intelligence into evidential opportunities.

· Collect, record, and retain material in accordance with evidential and legislative requirements.

· Plan and prioritise investigative actions based on risk, proportionality, and investigative strategy.

· Conduct witness and suspect interviews in line with PIP2 standards and relevant legislation.

· Safeguard victims, complete risk assessments, and contribute to victim focused strategies.

· Analyse and evaluate evidence to identify offenders and support case progression.

· Prepare case files, manage disclosure responsibilities, and produce clear, professional reports.

· Contribute to team learning by sharing investigative techniques and supporting colleagues.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

· PIP2 accreditation or equivalent experience in serious and complex crime investigation.

· Strong interviewing, evidence handling, and case building skills.

· Experience working within major crime, safeguarding, or specialist investigative environments.

· Knowledge of disclosure, safeguarding frameworks, and relevant legislation.

· Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

· High standards of professionalism, integrity, and victim focused practice.

Desirable

· Experience working within Defence, military policing, or national specialist units.

· Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced investigators.
