About The Role Do you enjoy finding solutions to problems? Are you interested in reducing crime through "secured by design" in the built environment? We are looking for a  someone who can provide specialist crime prevention advice and guidance relating to the built environment, using the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and other crime prevention practices to minimise crime, disorder, the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour within the communities covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. You will liaise with architects, designers and developers; promoting an awareness of the designing out crime service, NPCC approved crime prevention initiatives, including Secure by Design; to build awareness of the principles of crime prevention through design; and to build adoption of recommended standards and specifications and Provide specialist advice on the security, design and refurbishment of developments to influence their design standards and specifications in order to minimise crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. You will also act as conduit for all designing out crime issues that may include highways and licensing matters and not restricted solely to the planning process and engage with Local Authority planning departments to influence their prioritisation of reducing crime and the fear of crime as a key development principle, and to foster the incorporation of relevant policies in their local plan and other key documents relating to the Built environment. Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 4 OR work experience
deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

Essential Experience

To possess a knowledge of crime prevention theories and
community safety issues and their impact on the planning
and design process.

To have the ability to liaise with a variety of external
organisations, promoting and developing the work and
objectives of Hampshire Constabulary.

To have an understanding of the planning processes and
the ability to interpret drawn plans.

To have knowledge of current legislation impacting on
planning, community safety and designing out crime.

To be able to demonstrate experience in preparing and
giving presentations to a wide range of audiences, both in
visual and written form.

Confident in developing and implementing new initiatives
within the workplace.
