  • Neurodiversity in the Criminal Justice System: Understanding Strengths

Neurodivergent individuals often face unique challenges in criminal justice settings — from misunderstanding to miscommunication and unmet needs.

This session explores how conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia may influence behaviour, engagement and compliance. You’ll learn how to recognise barriers, make reasonable adjustments, and adopt a strengths-based approach that supports fairness and positive outcomes.

    What you’ll gain:

    • Awareness of common neurodivergent conditions and how they may present
    • Insight into how neurodivergence affects behaviour, communication and trust
    • Strategies for adjusting support and improving engagement
    • Tools for creating fairer, more accessible justice experiences
    • Confidence to work in a neuro-affirming, strengths-based way

    Who should attend:

    • Police officers, custody staff and investigators
    • Probation, court and prison staff
    • Youth justice professionals and case managers
    • Anyone working with neurodivergent individuals in justice or safeguarding roles

Justice must be fair for every mind — understand, adjust, and support with insight.
