Save the date: vouchers for free NIE and promotion exam e-learning will be released on Monday

Police Oracle 15/01/2026
Comments 0

From Monday 19 January, Police Oracle full subscribers will have the opportunity to access—at no cost - a package to support preparation for the National Investigators’ Examination (NIE) and Sergeants and Inspectors promotion exams.

If you are studying for the NIE, Sergeants or Inspectors examinations this year,  you can access  –  at no extra cost – a tried and tested e-learning package to help you achieve success.

Through a collaboration with the Police Digital Service (PDS) Police Oracle is providing each force with 500 individual subscriptions allowing exam candidates to access the Police Revision services on its website.

A total of 1,350 course credits will be released free of charge to Police Oracle full subscribers to enable them to prepare and pass the NIE , Sergeants or Inspectors exams. Credits will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with availability capped at 30 credits per qualifying organisation. The free download window will remain open for two weeks.

Designed to complement internal force learning resources and core syllabus texts, these digital learning aids are highly accessible and built around a method that suits operational policing. Content is broken down into digestible segments, making it ideal for short, focused revision sessions—particularly the 20-minute revision approach, where learners complete a short block of study followed by a brief break. This structure supports consistent learning without needing unrealistic periods of uninterrupted time, helping officers build momentum across busy shifts and changing operational demand.

The e-learning content uses a combination of audio and visual inputs to unpack what can often be challenging and technical subject matter into clear, easy-to-follow sections. Importantly, it is available on any device—desktop, smartphone, or tablet—so officers can study when and where it is convenient, whether that’s during downtime, between shifts, or on rest days.

As one recent user from Hertfordshire Police commented:  “I’ve used various learning aids in the past for my promotion and detective qualifications, and I can honestly say Police Revision is the refreshingly clear and simple way to learn that was sorely needed. I found it very easy to use, it’s very flexible and gives you everything you need to feel comfortable walking into that exam. I used it in the car, at the gym and in my down time. It’s such an easy way to learn and a very easy listen. I honestly never thought I’d achieve the 5th highest score in the country in the Inspectors exam.”

Force specific coupon codes to access the Police Revision service will be sent to all Police Oracle subscribers who have signed up using the PDS subscription route on Monday the 19th of January.

The codes will expire on Friday the 30th.  Any remaining credits will be distributed to forces with higher levels of demand.
