The Cayman Islands Government, Portfolio of the Civil Service on behalf of the Commissions Secretariat invites applications for the post of Investigator I. The post-holder will act in a supervisory capacity over a team of investigatory related staff members receiving, recording, assessing, and investigating allegations of corruption in accordance with the Anti- Corruption Law.

Responsibilities will include:

• Participate in anti-corruption investigations and operations;

• Contribute to the collection and maintenance of auditable statistics relevant to all investigations and operational matters;

• Contribute to the facilitation of staff training, as agreed with the Senior Investigator;

• Approve annual leave requests and provide feedback on the performance of investigatory related staff members during the performance agreement process as agreed with the Senior Investigator

• Assist with any public relations or education efforts, and/or representations (at meetings) as assigned by the Senior Investigator.

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Completion of a minimum of 5 basic and 4 advanced trainings or certifications in relevant areas (e.g. Detective Training, Risk Assessment, Interview Techniques, etc.).

• A minimum of 12 years investigatory experience:

• 7 years of which have been spent taking an active role in conducting investigations in serious, protracted and complex crime related enquires; and

• 5 years of which the post-holder has held the designation of ‘Leading’ Investigating Officer; and

• The post-holder must have a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising a team of investigatory related staff.

• Direct investigatory experience in anti-corruption or financial related enquiries would be a significant asset.

• Demonstrable experience and ability in the preparation of complex and voluminous case files for submission to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions;

• Demonstrate best practice case management techniques inclusive of the ability to create and maintain all operational records in an auditable manner and in compliance with disclosure requirements and other relevant legislation such as Freedom of Information and Data Protection, to allow for a successful and lawful prosecution;

• Overseeing and participating in the presentation of oral and written evidence in Court with the ability to succinctly explain the evidence gathering and financial investigation processes to confirm the validity and lawfulness of evidence identified;

• Collecting, processing, analysing, and interpreting information and evidence gathered during the course of an investigation; and

• Conducting lawful arrests, searches of persons and premises, securing custody.

• Completion of a two-year police training program would be an asset.

The post-holder must have and maintain a clean police clearance certificate and will be subject to further background checks.
