Trustee Role · NFS Mediation (Registered Charity No. 1146657) About NFS Mediation NFS Mediation is a registered charity dedicated to practical conflict solutions across Southampton and Hampshire. We deliver restorative practices including community, neighbourhood, workplace, and inter-generational mediation, helping individuals and groups resolve disputes constructively.

Opportunity: Voluntary Treasurer & Trustee

We are seeking a skilled professional with financial sector experience to join our Board of Trustees as Voluntary Treasurer. This key governance role provides strategic financial oversight to ensure our charity remains financially resilient, transparent, and sustainable as we expand our community impact.

Key Role Summary

  • Position: Voluntary Treasurer & Charity Trustee
  • Commitment: Quarterly Trustee Meetings + Quarterly Finance Meetings (approx. 3–5 hours/month)
  • Location: Southampton / Hampshire (Hybrid & Remote options available)
  • Key Requirement: Experience within the financial sector / accounting / financial management

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Governance: Oversee the charity’s financial policies, internal controls, budgets, and cash flow.
  • Board Reporting: Present clear financial reports, management accounts, and forecasts at quarterly board meetings.
  • Annual Accounts & Report: Lead and contribute to the preparation of the Annual Report and financial accounts for examination and submission to the Charity Commission.
  • Finance Committee Meetings: Attend and chair/lead quarterly finance sub-committee meetings prior to main board meetings.
  • Strategic Advice: Guide fellow trustees on financial strategy, risk management, and resource allocation.

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrated professional experience within the financial sector (e.g., qualified/part-qualified accountant, finance manager, auditor, or financial controller).
  • Understanding of charity finance and governance, or enthusiasm to translate commercial finance expertise to the voluntary sector.
  • Strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial trustees.
  • Commitment to the values, vision, and charitable aims of NFS Mediation.
