Join the Professional Standards Department and play a vital part in maintaining the highest standards of policing. You'll help manage and progress complaints and misconduct investigations involving police officers, staff, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring cases are handled efficiently, fairly, and with integrity. Your contribution will directly support accountability, professionalism, and public trust. The Complaint Resolution Unit handles over 4,000 public complaints each year and plays a key role in ensuring concerns about the police service are handled fairly, proportionately and in line with legislation and IOPC guidance.  Type of person we are looking for

We are looking for someone who can analyse complex information, make sound decisions, communicate confidently both verbally and in writing, and remain professional when dealing with challenging or sensitive matters.

The successful applicant will manage a varied caseload, assess complaints, engage with complainants and operational policing departments, and produce clear, evidence-based outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 3 OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level

Essential Work Experience

Evidence of significant work experience in conducting investigations and presenting the findings of those investigations

Evidence of handling investigations or complaint matters

Knowledge and understanding of criminal law and the Criminal Justice System

We analyse critically – Level 2
