The States of Guernsey are seeking to recruit Police Inspectors / Detective Inspectors to join Bailiwick of Guernsey Law Enforcement. Inspectors provide leadership and management of critical incidents and calls for service, effectively and efficiently deploying resources, in line with the Guernsey Police Service Delivery Plan and organisational policies, including pre-planned events.
The post holder will ensure the safety of officers, staff and the public, and respond effectively to problems, incidents and crime.
This role carries specific legal powers to enable the maintenance of law and order. Post holders will be senior operational officers and may also manage assigned specialist policing functions. The post holder will be required to undertake the role of review officer and identification officer in accordance with PPACE and to be able to oversee the management of persons in police detention. They will also be responsible for identifying policing needs and taking forward community issues in accordance with the Service Delivery Plan.
The post holder will need to be an initial tactical firearms commander and maintain operational accreditation.

Law Enforcement Vetting:
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Law Enforcement Vetting e-Form. If you are successful after interview, a copy of your passport and your Guernsey Social Security Number or UK National Insurance number will be forwarded to the Guernsey Vetting Unit by HR; please ensure this information is entered / uploaded onto your job application. A link to access your Law Enforcement Vetting e-Form will then be sent to you via email by the Guernsey Vetting Unit.
In order to satisfy residency criteria, you need to have been resident in the UK or Guernsey for a period of 3 years. The calculation of the period of time refers to the period immediately before an application is made and not any other period or accumulation of time spent in the UK or Guernsey. The process will assess an individual’s behaviour and conduct to determine their honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, maturity, reliability, and overall suitability to work in policing. It will consider criminal history, financial information, relationships, and any other adverse information, to determine the outcome.
Relocation Package:
For candidates who would be required to relocate to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, we also offer a relocation package to help with the cost of moving over to the Island. This relocation package offers different solutions depending on an individual’s circumstances.

This role offers off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit (see details below). This permit will also enable candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will be permitted to work on the Island in any sector.
