PNC & UNIFI Administrator

Location: Remote working – initial training/induction in Gloucester – Initial 12-month contract, plus extensions
Pay: £130 per day PAYE 
Hours: Full-time or part-time available
Working Pattern: Remote, with attendance required at the Gloucester office for the first few days
Vetting: NPPV3 required

About the Role
Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a PNC & UNIFI Administrator to support a policing organisation in Gloucestershire.
This is a specialist role focused on PNC data quality, database administration and information management, as well as liaison with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
The role is predominantly remote working, although you will be required to attend the Gloucester office for the first few days for initial training and familiarisation.

Please note: candidates must have recent experience using both PNC and NICHE within the last 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and undertake data quality checks on information held on the Police National Computer (PNC).
  • Receive, analyse and verify information before it is entered onto or deleted from the PNC, ensuring records are accurate and complete.
  • Use PNC specialist functions, including VODS and QUEST, with training provided where required.
  • Support the administration of the Force UNIFI IT system and become a key point of contact for users.
  • Maintain accurate records of user IDs and access groups for key Information Assurance systems.
  • Keep up to date with changes to PNC guidance and provide advice and support to staff across the Force.
  • Work with the UNIFI/PNC Supervisor to promote awareness and effective use of PNC facilities.
  • Act as a key point of contact with the DVLA, including dealing with enquiries and liaising with vehicle examiners.
  • Identify discrepancies between PNC and DVLA records and prepare reports where required.
  • Attend system working groups, take accurate minutes and distribute approved minutes to members.
  • Work effectively as part of a wider team, providing an efficient and professional service to Police Officers and Police Staff.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

About You
We are looking for candidates who have recent, hands-on experience within a policing environment, particularly using PNC and NICHE.
You will need:

  • Recent experience using PNC within the last 12 months – essential.
  • Recent experience using NICHE within the last 12 months – essential.
  • At least 2 years’ administrative or clerical experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Experience working with large volumes of information and computerised systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A methodical approach to searching for, analysing and recording information.
  • The ability to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
  • A willingness to undertake further training and develop specialist knowledge.
  • Previous experience using other Force systems would be advantageous.

Essential Experience
The following are essential for this role:

  • Experience working within a police / policing environment.
  • PNC experience within the last 12 months.
  • NICHE experience within the last 12 months.
  • Strong administrative and data management experience.
  • Experience checking information for accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work accurately within a high-volume environment.

Working Arrangement
This is a predominantly remote-working position, offering flexibility for candidates who have the required recent policing systems experience.
Candidates will be required to attend the Gloucester office for the first few days to complete initial training, induction and familiarisation with the role and systems.
Following this initial period, the role will be carried out remotely.
Both full-time and part-time working arrangements can be considered, subject to service requirements.
