Pay
£193.13 per day
Working Hours
40 hours per week – Monday to Friday (AM shift week) with one weekend in six.
Where necessary, undertake duties on a shift pattern to meet operational needs. Flexibility is essential, and working arrangements may be varied in accordance with service demand and organisational priorities.
Holiday
28 days holiday (Bank Holiday entitlement included within the 28 days).

Shared accommodation provided.
Flights
Three return flights between the UK and Isle of Man provided.
Role Purpose
The Public Protection Officer is responsible for protecting vulnerable people, investigating serious and complex offences, managing offender risk, and delivering high-quality safeguarding and investigative activity.
The postholder will manage investigations involving vulnerability, sexual offences, domestic abuse, child protection, safeguarding and offender management, whilst supporting intelligence-led and digitally enabled policing practices.
The role requires a proactive, victim-focused and trauma-informed approach, with the ability to build trust and confidence with victims, communities and partner agencies whilst pursuing justice and reducing harm.
Key Responsibilities
Investigation & Case Management
- Investigate serious and complex Public Protection offences.
- Manage investigations from initial report through to prosecution outcome.
- Gather, secure and evaluate evidence in accordance with PIP investigative standards.
- Conduct victim, witness and suspect interviews using approved investigative interviewing techniques.
- Prepare comprehensive case files for court and criminal justice processes.
- Present evidence professionally within legal proceedings where required.
- Maintain accurate investigative records and evidential audit trails.
Safeguarding & Vulnerability
- Identify and manage risks relating to vulnerable adults and children.
- Apply safeguarding legislation, policy and best practice effectively.
- Undertake risk assessments and implement safeguarding interventions.
- Support victims using a compassionate, trauma-informed and victim-centred approach.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately and ensure timely action.
Public Protection & Offender Management
- Manage and monitor high-risk individuals and offenders.
- Conduct structured risk assessments including ARMS where appropriate.
- Monitor compliance with court orders, licence conditions and notification requirements.
- Conduct proactive visits and enforcement activity where necessary.
- Support the prevention of reoffending and reduction of harm.
Partnership Working
- Work collaboratively with probation, social services, health, housing and third-sector agencies.
- Contribute effectively to MAPPA, MARAC and safeguarding arrangements.
- Build effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Share intelligence and information lawfully to support safeguarding and coordinated risk management.
Intelligence & Digital Investigation
- Gather, assess and develop intelligence relating to offending, vulnerability and safeguarding.
- Support investigations involving digital evidence and technology-enabled offending.
- Maintain accurate records on force systems including ViSOR where applicable.
- Contribute to intelligence-led policing activity and investigative development.

Essential Requirements
- PIP 2 Investigation and Interview accredited.
- Experience within Public Protection, safeguarding, offender management or investigative policing.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability, safeguarding and victim-focused investigations.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex or high-risk investigations.
- Op Soteria awareness and operational knowledge.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate vetting clearance.
Desirable Requirements
- SAADIP and SCADIP trained – ideal; however, candidates who have previously held these accreditations, even if no longer current, will be considered.
- PIP 3 Witness and/or Suspect Interview trained – preferable but not essential.
- PIPPA trained – preferable but not essential.
- SUDIC investigation trained – preferable but not essential.
- Experience within Domestic Abuse, Serious Sexual Offences or Child Protection investigations.
- Experience handling digital evidence and technology-enabled offending.
- Knowledge of ViSOR, MAPPA and multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
- Previous policing or law enforcement background.
