Do you want to make a difference in keeping Hampshire and the Isle of Wight safe? Are you passionate about developing people and driving performance through learning? We're looking for an experienced and motivated leader to manage two dedicated teams within the specialist training department, delivering high-quality learning experiences that support organisational priorities. You'll play a key role in shaping training strategy, designing and delivering engaging programmes, and partnering with senior stakeholders to build skills, capability and future success across the organisation.

Please note: Flexibility in hours and working patterns for this role is essential and some evening and weekend work will be required. Occasional overtime may also be required.


About the role

Lead and develop a dedicated training team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the delivery of exceptional learning experiences that support organisational priorities.

Manage the end-to-end delivery and evaluation of learning programmes, from training needs analysis and programme design through to delivery, assessment and evaluation, ensuring learning is effective, relevant and impactful.

Manage and deliver key training projects, working closely with the Specialist Training Manager and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet evolving organisational and customer needs.

Champion professional excellence, maintaining expertise in relevant legislation, operational practices and learning methodologies, while representing Learning & Development at internal and national forums.

Oversee training resources and environments, including budgets, equipment and learning facilities, while ensuring compliance with equality, health and safety, data protection and organisational standards.

About You

This is a really exciting opportunity for the right person. Do you have:

  • A qualification at QCF Level 4 (or equivalent), or significant relevant work experience that demonstrates a comparable level of knowledge and capability?
  • A nationally recognised Learning & Development or Management qualification at QCF Level 4 (or equivalent), supported by proven practical experience?
  • Experience of supervising, leading and developing staff to achieve high levels of performance and engagement?
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor individuals and teams, supporting their professional growth and development in the workplace?
