Force Intelligence Team Leader
Location: Preston – Saunders Lane
Pay Rate: £15.48 per hour PAYE
Contract: 3 months initially, with potential for extension
Hours: Full-time
About the Role
We are recruiting for a Force Intelligence Team Leader to join the Force Intelligence Bureau in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced intelligence professional with strong supervisory skills to play a key role in supporting operational policing and ensuring high-quality intelligence is effectively managed, developed and shared.
Working alongside the Detective Sergeant, you will supervise a team of Intelligence Officers and help ensure an efficient and effective intelligence function across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support and prioritise the work of Intelligence Officers, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Receive, evaluate, research, develop and disseminate information and intelligence from a range of sources.
- Support the management of an effective intelligence support service within the Intelligence Hub.
- Manage requests for information from other police forces and external agencies, ensuring matters relating to threat, risk and harm are dealt with appropriately and promptly.
- Research intelligence using specialist databases and UK and international law enforcement systems.
- Maintain responsibility for specific intelligence themes and areas of work.
- Handle restricted and confidential information and intelligence appropriately.
- Manage departmental mailboxes and ensure information is actioned effectively.
- Produce and manage performance information and data where required.
- Develop effective working relationships with internal departments, other police forces and external agencies to support information sharing.
- Provide guidance and advice on intelligence matters in support of operational policing.
- Assist with the resourcing of Operational Intelligence Cells when required.
- Attend briefings and meetings and deliver intelligence-related presentations where appropriate.
- Ensure information and intelligence is managed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and guidance, including data protection and the Management of Police Information (MoPI).
- Support the development of skills and knowledge across the Intelligence Hub.
- Carry out other duties consistent with the nature and responsibilities of the role.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience of working within an intelligence environment who can demonstrate:
- Experience of researching, evaluating and disseminating intelligence.
- Experience of managing or supervising intelligence within a professional environment.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-functional team.
- Experience using specialist databases and information systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when collecting, analysing and recording information.
- The ability to identify patterns and trends and interpret complex information.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to take appropriate action.
- Experience working collaboratively with internal and external departments or agencies.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations to a range of audiences.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and other relevant applications.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous to have:
- Experience of managing staff, including appraisal and performance management.
- Experience using the Police National Database (PND) and other law enforcement databases.
- Knowledge and experience of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and 5x5x5 intelligence grading system.
- Knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to the management and disclosure of police information, data protection and intelligence.
