To strengthen multi-agency understanding of coercive and controlling behaviour by exploring the lessons from the Sandwell Domestic Homicide Review (Angela), with a focus on recognising hidden abuse, safe enquiry, unconscious bias and effective multi-agency responses.

    Learning Objectives:

Recognise the signs and impact of coercive and controlling behaviour, including situations where abuse may be hidden, minimised or normalised.

Identify barriers to disclosure and understand how trauma, fear and dependency can influence victim behaviour and engagement.

Understand the importance of safe enquiry, professional curiosity and effective multi-agency information sharing when assessing domestic abuse risk.

Apply learning from the Angela Review to strengthen risk assessment, challenge assumptions and support effective safeguarding and homicide prevention practice
