ONS crime survey shows drop while police data shows rise
Knife crime has seen a 6 per cent rise to a new record high, while burglary has decreased by 9 per cent. Survey data shows a 9 per cent overall drop in crime and better police recording practices leads to a 3 per cent rise.

The North-East Trading Standards Association is a partnership of the 12 Local Authority Trading Standards Services within the North-East of England. As part of its role, it oversees a Regional Intelligence Function aimed at co-ordinating criminal intelligence work across the region. The Regional Intelligence Analyst sits within, and directs the work of, the intelligence function; a small team which also includes a dedicated Regional Intelligence Officer. The Team implements and supports the National Trading Standards Intelligence Operating Model locally, regionally and nationally. Based in Middlesbrough, the Intelligence function sits alongside, and works closely with, the North-East Regional Investigations Team.
