Salary: The contracted officer will receive a local salary in the range of $150,000 – $200,000 XCD (£43,000 – £58,000) dependent upon experience

About the Role:
The Deputy Commissioner of Police is the Deputy executive lead for the RMPS. The Deputy Commissioner of Police reports to the Commissioner of Police.
The successful applicant will be required to influence change across all aspects of policing and partnership working, whilst understanding the complex context in which it currently operates. The officer will need to display the highest standards of professionalism, demonstrating strong leadership and change management credentials. The ability to negotiate and influence within a challenging environment will be a key attribute. The successful applicant will be required to manage relationships across all ranks internally and key external stakeholders to ensure change is both embraced and maintained.

The British Overseas Territory of Montserrat is part of the Caribbean Leeward Islands, forming the northern part of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. The Territory comprises one large island (approximately 10 miles long and 7 miles wide). It has a population of around 4,500.
The Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) was established in 1967. The RMPS is responsible for providing Montserrat’s policing and domestic security functions. Judicially, Montserrat, alongside English-Speaking independent nations and territories of the Eastern Caribbean, forms part of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
As of March 2023, the RMPS comprised 89 officers drawn from Montserrat and several other Caribbean islands.
Crime and policing issues are important to Montserratians. The RMPS and the role and performance of the Commissioner are consequently subject to public scrutiny and commentary.
