A man was arrested after voluntarily reporting to a Kent police station in response to a CCTV appeal.

The man, who is his 20s and from Chatham, walked into Medway Police Station last Thursday after Kent Police released CCTV images in the hope the public would come forwards with information about a robbery in Rochester.

A Kent Police spokesman said the robbery was reported to have happened between 8-8.30pm on September 22 when a man approached the victim outside a bus stop in Rochester High Street and offered him a lift home.

Both men walked together to a supermarket bus stop in Friary Place, got into a car and drove off.

But when the car reach Borstal Road the suspect stopped the vehicle, threatened his victim with a knife and demanded cash.

The arrested man has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
