Police Oracle Training Academy launches Preparing for Promotion

Police Oracle Training Academy is providing a host of new Promotion Webinars, designed to help aspiring sergeants and inspectors through the four-step National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) process.

The sessions will be led by Mike Worrall, who retired in 2024 as a Detective Chief Superintendent in Kent Police following a 30-year career within policing.

Mike, who was promoted to Detective Sergeant after 12 years of service before rising through the ranks, has a wealth of experience from his career, including chairing police promotion boards for budding sergeants and inspectors.

During the webinars, Mike will be sharing the knowledge he gained from his time as a Staff Officer to the DCC and a Divisional DCI.

His last role was as Det Chief Supt Head of Crime for three years, where he had strategic responsibility for improving investigations across the Force.

Crucially, Mike (pictured below) has also assisted colleagues across the UK in preparing for their promotion boards, and so far has helped 94 out of a possible 106 officers pass their exams at the very first attempt.

In the opening webinar ‘Settling the Promotional Scene’, Mike will explain the process involved, how to prepare for your respective boards and he will provide some useful advice which will assist you in your preparation.

Each webinar will then discuss two competencies from the College of Policing Competency Value Framework (CVF) 2024, which the majority of forces use to assess candidates for their suitability for promotion.

The sessions will be interactive and candidates are encouraged to ask whatever questions they feel are relevant.

Mike will be online at 2pm on Thursday, June 5 and then the same time each week up to and including Thursday, July 31.
