Police in Salford have returned overdue library books following on from a drugs warrant.

On Friday January 20, 2012 police executed a drugs warrant in Broughton Park and as well as discovering a small cannabis farm, they found some overdue library books.

“We were able to take some overdue books back to a library, which benefits the whole of the community.”

The Salford East Neighbourhood Policing Team has since returned the books to the Manager at Higher Broughton Library.

Sgt Tom Martin said: “We come across some strange things when executing warrants but no matter what the value is, we’ll always try and return them to their rightful owner.

“In this particular instance we were able to take some overdue books back to a library, which benefits the whole of the community.”
