Norfolk Trading Standards find Great Yarmouth man copying 'Jurassic Park 3'

  • On the 28 August 2001 Norfolk Trading Standards officers, accompanied by Fact Senior Investigator Sheryl SPOONER, executed a warrant on the home address of a man from Great Yarmouth.  This was as a result of the investigation following a consumer complaint from a member of the public.

The man operated a mobile video round, which up until quite recently was a legitimate business.  However he then started to import legitimate region 1 DVD's, mainly from Canada, which he then transferred onto VHS format a then put onto his mobile round.  A number of the titles had, at the time, not been released in this country on VHS or DVD format.  Including such titles as ‘Tomb Raider’, ‘Pearl Harbor’, and ‘Mummy Returns’.  At the time of the warrant he was also in the process of copying ‘Jurassic Park 3’.  Copying equipment and documentation was also seized and is likely to be confiscated following any prosecution.
