Cheshire Cottage Industry Thwarted.Thu, September 27, 2001Source:South Cheshire Police assist FACT investigation into Columbia Tristar complaint.
Following a complaint received by Columbia Tristar Home
Video and passed over to FACT for action, Senior Investigator Roger HAMILTON
presented evidence to South Cheshire Police which resulted in a joint
Police/FACT operation culminating in the arrest of a 32 year old man from Crewe.
During a search of his house and car
a range of goods were seized including 260 genuine DVD’s which can be
shown by other evidence to be masters for illicit copying. Infringing material
recovered included 40 counterfeit tapes, 177 audio disks, 200 games as well as
business software. Hardware,
including 2 DVD players, 2 video cassette recorders, a TV/video combination set,
a scanner, a monitor and a keyboard, 2 computers and were taken. Business paperwork demonstrating illicit
trade was also taken. The prosecution of this case will be undertaken by
FACT. |
