Burnley Police Seize VCD's.Fri, September 21, 2001Source: FACTUse of stop & search powers nets counterfeit VCD's.
On
the early hours of 16th September 2001, police officers based at
Burnley Police Station stopped a vehicle. The driver, a young man of 26 years of
age, who was on his way to Fleetwood Market, was found to have a quantity of
infringing VCD's in his possession. He was arrested for Trade Mark offences and
a search warrant was executed at his house. Police
seized a further quantity of infringing VCD discs, plus a quantity of video
cassettes, along with 6 VCR's and a computer. Amongst the VCD's were titles that have
not yet been released in the U.K on any format. The
discs seized from the vehicle were marked for sale priced at £3.00 and £5.00
each. His wife, aged 26, was also arrested. Both have been bailed to reappear at
Burnley police station on 12th November 2001. |
