An award winning software solution
devised by Cleveland Police computer expert Tom Keegan – and adapted by a
local firm – is set to go under the international
spotlight.
Tom, who heads the force Technical
Support Unit, spent two years fine-tuning the program to meet the needs of
potential users.
Not only does it provide a
step-by-step method of monitoring equipment, it simultaneously quantifies
and analyses information about the use of technical support within police
operations, drastically reducing the time it takes to wade through
paperwork.
Tom’s original package recently took a
top prize in the prestigious Police Foundation Software Author’s Awards –
and caught the attention of Middlesbrough-based Imaging Management Systems
boss Bernard Gibson.
His firm has now linked up with the
police to offer the solution to forces throughout the country and
abroad.
The first step will be taken at the
national Technical Support Unit Conference to be held next month in
Newcastle, which attracts a national and international audience of TSU
officers. Tom will be giving a presentation on its use.
Mr Gibson said: “Tom has done a first
class job and justifies his award. His solution delivers exactly what
senior officers have wanted and we know that UK forces are keen to have
it.
“We have the opportunity to make
further developments to provide users with even more benefits, thus
releasing more time for active operational support.
“Being an information management tool,
it fits neatly into our world-class product portfolio. It is a very
exciting opportunity as we can see a number of ways in which its potential
can be developed for uses both within the police service and outside by
integrating it with our other
solutions.” |
