Soccer ace Andy Carroll was yesterday charged with assaulting a reveller in a nightclub.
The 6ft 3in England under-21 international and Newcastle United striker was bailed by cops accused of attacking painter Michael Cook.
Carroll, 21, is alleged to have assaulted non-league footballer Mr Cook in Newcastle's Blu Bambu club on Sunday, December 7.
He was arrested shortly after 1am and Mr Cook was treated in hospital for head injuries.
Chris Hughton, manager of Championship leaders Newcastle, said later the matter would be dealt with "in house".
Carroll, of Prestwick, Newcastle, is due to appear before Newcastle JPs on February 25.
ABH carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail.
