A senior Metropolitan Police officer will face an influential group of MPs as they carry out a one-off evidence session focusing on counter-terrorism policing.

Cressida Dick, who is AC Specialist Operations, is appearing before the Home Affairs Select Committee on January 24, where she is set to face questions about preparations for the Olympic Games and the replacement regime for control orders.

As previously reported on PoliceOracle.com, AC Dick took up her current post in August last year following the resignation of colleague John Yates.

Home Affairs Committee Chairman Keith Vaz (pictured) emphasised that the coming months will be a crucial time policing with events of national and international importance.

He added: "In light of the recent increases in security staff needed for the Olympics and rising costs, this is an opportunity to get an update on how preparations are progressing.

"We will also look to find out how some of the aspects of the Government's counter-terrorism review, such as the replacement regime for control orders, are going to affect the Met's ability to counter terrorism."

The meeting, which begins at 12:15 Hours, will be held at the Wilson Room at Portcullis House in Westminster.

Lets hope AC Dick makes a better job of it than she did with the Charles de Menezes episode. A officer promoted way above her ability.

She is a typical result of the Politically Correct Home Office and Police Service culture that has taken over all aspects of policing.
