A man has been charged with false imprisonment and wounding after an incident when police deployed a Taser.

At 0053 hrs 12th October, police were called to an address in Brixham, Devon following a report that a male was assaulting females inside the address.

Shortly after the arrival of police, five females were able to leave the house, leaving the suspected offender and another male inside. The suspected offender armed himself with knives and threatened officers, whilst refusing to leave the house.

Trained negotiators were called to the scene to talk to the male and at about 0230hrs the second male was able to safely leave the house. Negotiations continued until about 0325hrs when the suspected offender came out of the back door, armed with two knives and confronted officers outside. Taser was used by officers to quickly and safely restrain and arrest the male.

Three of the females, a 30 year old and two 14 year olds, attended Torbay Hospital for treatment.
