A policeman has been crowned Mr Gay UK.

PC Mark Carter, 23, beat a town planner and a sailor to be voted Britain's sexiest homosexual at Blackpool's Flamingo Club.

Mark won £5000 reports The Sun.

The Bradford policeman said: "I am absolutely over the moon. Two years ago I used to cry myself to sleep at night, I was so daunted by the prospect of coming out.

"But when I did it was the best thing ever. I was finally myself."

He was supported at the event by his colleagues from the West Yorkshire Police.
