Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge (22) was crowned this week as Miss England and took the opportunity to publicise metal pins designed to be worn by UK police personnel and other emergency services staff to show their support for the Help for Heroes charity.
Kartrina wants to use her new title of Miss England to promote the British Army and has been given 6 months leave of her duties as a soldier to do so. Since her success in the Miss England final, Katrina has been chosen as a model for La Senza lingerie and in January 2010 secured a contract as the new Face of Uniform Dating. It is through contacts at the dating site that she has thrown her weight behind the Help for Heroes pins.
The pins were launched by Ian McPherson when he was Chief Constable of Norfolk Constabulary. The first recipients of the badge were HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Mr McPherson is hoping the initiative will enable the police service and other emergency services nationally to be seen to be behind the men and women who return wounded from active service.
Geoff Hyams from Police Oracle said, “We are delighted that Katrina is supporting us in helping to make this initiative a success. Every penny from the sale of these badges goes straight to Help for Heroes; our aim is to see one on the lapel of every member of the UK’s emergency services. The pins are ACPO approved for wearing with police uniform.”
