Scores of suspects have been arrested and more than 170 warrants executed after the Metropolitan Police launched a major crackdown against gangs.
A spokesman for the Force said that the opening day of action on February 8 – which saw 1,300 officers deployed – had been a great success, netting drugs and firearms.
He said that “a significant amount” of cocaine and cannabis had been found during the raids while a kilo of heroin and £10,000 in cash had been discovered at one address.
There were 213 arrests during the action. Among them, two people were detained in Barnet on suspicion of possession of a firearm after a suspected handgun was recovered. Around £4,000 was seized during the same raid.
In Camden, there were three arrests following the seizure of two CS canisters, stolen mobile phones, a large quantity of an unidentified drug and £20,000 cash.
Elsewhere in Westminster, a weapon sweep in Lisson Green recovered a ball bearing gun, gas canister, heavy duty chain and a sharpened spade handle.
