The management of a pursuit that culminated in the deal of a 25-year-old man is to be investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The watchdog said it would examine what had happened before the death of Cardiff resident Kyle Griffiths, who was involved in a collision with a vehicle that officers had been following in the early hours of January 10 this year.

It has emerged that the pursuit was triggered after two South Wales officers signalled the driver of a blue Fiat Cinquecento to stop. They pursued the car into Cardiff city centre where it was in collision with Mr Griffiths.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Wales and later pronounced dead.

IPCC Commissioner for Wales Tom Davies said: "My sympathy and condolences go to the family and friends of Mr Griffiths for their sad loss. We have arranged for his family to be told about our investigation and we will also arrange to meet them.

"The IPCC investigation will focus on the management of the police pursuit, specifically the actions and decision-making within the control room.

“Our investigators will also look at this in relation to force training and pursuit policies, which are now subject to the codification of police pursuits on May 23, 2011.”

The Commissioner emphasised: "The police will continue to investigate the death of Mr Griffiths. They have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man on suspicion of murder and that criminal investigation will take priority."

ok another idiot on the road who decides to use the vehicle as a weapon against ANYTHING or ANYBODY that gets in his way of escape regardless of who or what is in persuit of him he (the driver)was in the wrong it should be a mandatory charge of murder as he had the option to stop and avoid the consequences of his actions,
regardless of what the stop was for even if he was over the limit or in a stolen vehicle if he stopped and took the punishment for that offence he would be able to get over it in time but now he has murdered an inocent man he has to pay the price and it should be a minimum of 25 years for murder.
