Police Constable Mick Gear of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The DVD shows details of a ‘real-life’ incident in Hampshire. The moped rider involved was seriously injured as a result of this incident and took five years to get over their injuries.
“The driver of a car also involved in the collision was disqualified from driving for three years.
“The second part of the DVD looks at how motoring laws affect moped riders and also risk management and safety messages, such as wearing high-visibility clothing and the dangers of modifying their vehicles to increase their power and performance.”
The DVD, which will be available to schools and colleges nationwide, was produced by an Isle of Wight company, Utility Films.
The company approached Hampshire Constabulary for assistance with the project. Hampshire Constabulary, Bournemouth Borough Council and Poole Borough Council provided funding for the project.
The Roads Policing Unit will have a stand at the Brockenhurst College Drive Safe Day offering general driver safety advice and free moped safety testing to students.
The local Safer Neighbourhoods team and Hampshire Constabulary Western Operational Command Unit Country Watch team will also be attending the event, offering advice and guidance to young drivers.
