Grampian Police Chief Constable Colin McKerracher has unveiled the biggest change in policing in the force area for a generation.
The massive revamp of how police deliver their services was drawn up in line with the force's commitment to Community Focus and quality of service.
Mr McKerracher said: "This is not an 'off the shelf' package, but one designed by us in consultation with our partners and communities to deliver the best possible policing based firmly in the heart of these communities."
The changes will be biggest in Aberdeen Division, where 13 new local teams have been set up, each headed by an Inspector and under the banner 'Local Policing. Closer to You'.
Mr McKerracher said: "We aim to increase visibility and accessibility and maximise front line policing effectiveness.
"Local policing gives each Inspector a huge stake in their area and empowers them to work with local partners and the public to help keep their communities safe and increase feelings of safety among the public.
"Communities will find it easier to make their wishes known, while our new Local Policing Teams will have greater power to set priorities for their areas.
