Speaking at the launch of the Essex Crime Against Business Forum on Monday, November 17, Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lowton announced the plans to support local businesses “through these difficult times”.
Mr Lowton said: “We are a large local employer and appreciate how these harsh economic times affect local businesses, that’s why we are reducing our invoice payment time by a third.”
He continued: “We want to continue to build our working relationship with local businesses and recognise the important part they play within our communities.
“They are a valued source of intelligence and, working together, we can help to tackle crime across Essex.”
FSB Home Affairs Policy Unit chairman Mike Cherry said: “It is great that Essex Police is taking the initiative to join with the business community and recognise that crime against business needs to be taken seriously.
“We look forward to working with the force; not least because of the help we can give them by intelligence-gathering to reduce crime against business.”
Mr Lowton told business leaders on Monday: “This marks another first for Essex Police as it is the first force to launch the Policing Pledge on December 1.”
The Essex Policing Pledge outlines the force’s commitment to the community, stating policing priorities which put the public at the heart of everything we do.
