Met: Five Men Injured in Mystery Shooting

Trident Officers investigate with "an open mind" as victims check themselves into separate London hospitals.

Five men have been injured in a shooting in East London – one of whom has been arrested by police.

Met Officers were called to reports of a firearms incident around 05:40 Hours on Sunday February 19 but found no one at the scene in Homerton High Street, E9.

Shortly afterwards four men checked themselves into an East London hospital with gunshot wounds.

A 21-year-old fifth man, who has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and possession of a firearm, checked himself into another East London hospital where he was later discharged. A second man has also been arrested but is not one of the victims.

A Met police spokesman said out of the four remaining victims in hospital, only one is believed to have serious injuries.

He added: “He is not in a critical condition.”

Trident Officers are investigating and appealing for information.

The two arrested men were given police bail until April 3 pending further enquiries.

Three of the remaining four victims are in their twenties, while one if 45-years-old.

The statement added: “Detectives retain an open mind regarding any motive surrounding the incident.”
