A man who repeatedly slammed a police dog’s head in a door has been sentenced.

Lukasz Sklepkowski (29) deliberately trapped canine Zinzan’s head after the dog was released to stop him fleeing a scene in Edgware. He was ordered to pay the vet bills for Zinzan, £300 in costs, and received a 12-month community order of 150 hours.

Hendon Magistrates Court heard that Zinzan had to be rushed to the vet after the brutal attack, which came during a police operation in the area in October 2011.

As Zinzan tried to get into the flat where Sklepkowski had fled, the defendant repeatedly slammed the door on the animal’s neck. The dog received severe bruising.

Sklepkowski, of no fixed abode, was earlier found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. PC Dan Revill, Zinzan’s handler, said the dog had now made a good recovery.

He added: "Thankfully he is now fully fit again. He had severe bruising to his head and neck and was on the strongest painkillers available while he recovered.

“He was reluctant to leave me for the first week, but we gave him a week of light training to ease him back to work and he has now returned to full duties.”

This thug deserved to go to jail for this. I would have given him 6 months.

Wrong charge wrong sentence?
skiepkowski was charged with Animal Cruelty? the charge should have been assualting a Police Officer? as the police dogs are part and parcel of the police force thwey should be given the recognision of serving police officers, and the courts MUST be made aware of this and proper sentences handed down to the scrouts that injure ANY police officer. it annoys me that there is one law for the courts and another for the criminals and their solicitors.

Re anonymous.... You assume that the sentence would have been tougher if he had of done that to a Police officer, the reality is he would probably not have received any stiffer sentence.
