Since then Jon’s wife, Mary, has said how she felt supported and drew strength from the number of cards, letters, flowers and gifts given by people who knew Jon and those who did not.
Last weekend Mary attended the annual National Police Memorial Day in Liverpool. Mary handed over on behalf of the nation and officers everywhere, the scroll containing the list of fallen officers to event patron Prince Charles.
Chief Constable of Bedfordshire Police Gillian Parker says, “The senseless death of PC Jon Henry last year was an event that deeply shocked and saddened us all. Today is an occasion for us all to remember and honour Jon.”
PC Jon Henry was a dedicated officer who had been with the force since May 2004 and had built up a wide circle of friends and a great deal of respect for the work he did. He joined the force in Luton, his home town, where he had been born and raised. He was just 36 years old.
