Resolute officers have said that there will be no-let up in their investigations into the disorder of last year – six months after the worst rioting seen in a generation.

The pledge came after the Metropolitan Police confirmed that some 3,864 suspects had now been arrested – with over 2,300 of them either charged or summonsed.

The latest statistics from the Force also show that 1,331 people have now been sentenced for their part in the disorder with 645 receiving custodial sentences.

Just under half of the charges and summonses are linked to burglary offences, with 346 relating to allegations of handling or receiving stolen goods.

A further 456 people were charged or summonsed in connection with violent disorder or affray and 12 suspects have been charged with arson offences.

A statement from the Met said officers had now viewed the majority of the 250,000 hours of CCTV footage recovered, with around 45,000 hours remaining.

Force spokesman Det Supt William Lyle said: “With more than 3,800 people arrested and in excess of 2,000 people charged for their involvement in the disorder, the continued support of the public is paramount in assisting us to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the disorder.

“Six months on from the disturbances seen across London my team of officers remain committed to identifying, arresting and charging those involved.

"Officers are viewing thousands of hour’s worth of CCTV footage and as that viewing phase continues we will be releasing further images of those we are seeking.”

WHY DOES NO ONE ASK 'WHY WERE THERE RIOTS?' In case no one knows, most of it was because of the stupidity of our so called 'Caring Government'. You know who I mean, those chimps that sit in the House of Commons or the House of Lords and make up utter and complete stupid laws and have idiotic ideas that turn the population off = RIOTS! It is about time that BIG Chimp in charge ACTUALLY thought of the people and not of HIMSELF. He Swore to show Scotland RESPECT, he stated he would HONOUR the Ex Servicemen/women and then he turned on them. NO HONOUR!
