A Leeds man appeared before Beverley Magistrates Court in Humberside yesterday in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer following the theft of a motor vehicle which was eventually stopped in the Westwood area of Beverley.

David Lloyd MYERS (25) of Springfield View, Pontefract, has been charged with Section 18 attempt wounding with intent, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified and use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance.
