I was not complaining about being quoted, but about the really vicious comments aimed at part-time officers. I was specifically referring to how the new pension contributions will affect part-time workers, you cannot possible accuse me of "introducing" sexism other than to highlight and condemn it. It absolutely did not justify the savage response from Zulu 22. As I said, no such attack on any other minority group would be tolerated, and I feel I am totally justied in objecting to it. If there's no way of addresing it in this forum I may well consider going elsewhere, just as I would if these comments had been aimed at, say, gay or minority ethnic officers.

First of all, I doubt you can call part time officers a minority group. I suspect that the true minority group would be those on foot patrol. Secondly, all Zulu did was to savage the argument, not you. We do not censor posts in this forum as long as they keep to the rules. Robust discussion is what forums are all about.

If your only response is to try to complain that he has argued with you, then perhaps he has a point. If not, why not just answer his argument? Just make sure not to make a personal attack.

How do I report someone for making unacceptable, sexist comments which they would not dare post in respect of other minority groups?

If you wish, you can click the "report" button at the bottom of the post, next to the "quote" options.

Wasn't that easy. :D

But then it will just be dealt with by us mods anyway and we end up going round in circles.

Wouldn't that be a negative vote?

Try moving to Florida and it won't matter what you actually vote. ;)

Yes, it is the hanging chad I was thinking of. Goodness knows what the good citizens of Chad think about it.

Is there a problem with changing your password?

I've tried to change it several times and cant login after changing it.

Each time I've had to use the forgot my password option to get back in, but then if I try to change that password I can't get back in!

I've copied and pasted the password in, so it shouldn't be a typo!

Edit: This is sorted now - the password change works ok if used from the main site, rather than the forum part.

I'm not aware of such a problem. Your problem is the first time I've heard of it. Unfortunately the techies are off at the weekend. I will try to remember to ask them on Monday for you. If I have not replied by Tuesday, please remind me as I will have forgotten.

Just to clarify what Techie1 mentioned, should you need to change your password for any reason, click 'HOME', then hover over 'MY ACCOUNT', and  'EDIT YOUR ACCOUNT' will appear.  Click this and it's easy thereafter.  This is also where you edit your newsletter subscriptions.

Despite us raising this in threads on a regular basis, it would appear that many members have not yet activated their personal messenger.  Doing this allows you to send a private message to another member and to receive such a message.  If you have raised an issue with another post by using the 'report' function, we are not able to give you an update unless you have activated your personal messenger.

To activate it, look at the top right of the screen where your username is shown, hover over your name and a drop-down will appear.  One option is personal messenger, by clicking that you will be able to activate your personal messenger.

This is being discussed here. It seems it is a false positive from Norton although other Norton users insist it must be the forum. However, no other anti-virus program has any problem with the forum. To be fair, a number of anti-virus programs have had false positive problems in the past although I have also known serious Windows problems caused by Norton (I run a small computer problem solving business and specialise in anti-virus so such problems tend to come to my attention).

There's some coding in the advert or the links the adverts leads to, which Norton is treating as suspect. We have used Norton for many years without a problem and find it's an excellent anti-virus programme. I'd rather have a false positive than a false negative, any day. I trust Norton. The alert blocking the adverts is a bit tiresome (I could probably turn the alert off)  but I don't mind the advert being blocked.

I'm with you M.  I'd much rather Norton blocked something over-zealously, than didn't block something dangerous.  I've not had any issue with Norton and have used it for at least 8 years.  My laptop was blocking ads last week, with the error code mentioned by redrobbo, but has not done anything over the last few days.  I assumed the forum had altered the coding of the advert.

I have a complaint, I've entered a reply to a forum thread and the thread shows my name instead of being anonymous as selected in my account settings, further more when I tried to edit the thread there appears to be no way of doing this?

The "anonymous" refers to whether you are shown as "online" or "anonymous" in the Userrs online list at the bottom of the page. There is no way of posting anonymously.

You should be able to edit the post, but the forum has been undergoing some work recently and some setting might have changed. Thank you for telling us.

I have hidden your other post, if this is the post you wish to change. If you actually want it to be revealed, I will do so.

Just to add to the above, I'm not aware of any online forum, where you can post anonymously, for obvious reasons.  If any old Tom, Dick or Harry, could post anything they liked without being accountable for it, then the forum would be full of trolls.

In short, if you don't want people to know who is posting, don't post.

I hear what you say, in fact I realised it was my user name that cant be altered in the settings, but there is no way of editing posts once submitted, which in most forums you can do this?
