James, not to sure what you are expecting from a committee meeting; the authorisation of the recruitment of 2000 new constables perhaps?! I prey for this but the reality is the committee has no power over such things and will only ask questions and ensure oversight!
The total Policing numbers have been known for sometime now, this is just the first time the breakdown of total recruits for the next year has been made public.
Given the budget process is over for this year, it's not going to change for the foreseeable future unless Lib Dems get into power or there's an unexpected turnover of people.......................

Hi guys,
I have just had an email from the MSC about my Specials application if anyone hasn't had this yet. It gives the option for going for the midweek or weekend training dates and gives a time limit of 5 days to respond.
I took the opportunity to ask when I phoned what would happen if we we were to get a start date within the 12 months and she said as far as she was told by other departments they won't be issuing start dates for 12 months so it won't affect anyone.
If anyone is coming too I start training on the 10th of April.
Thanks, Plop

It was Debbie who is a recruitment officer for the MSC so she might have just heard through someone else. To be honest I don't think anyone really knows what's going on lol. Plop

Lol I don't think so as I had already agreed to do it and asked at the end of the call.
Where has all the positivity gone from this place?

My positivity just fizzled out really.. I still desperately want to police, but so much time has elapsed between my first contact with the met that I've turned my attention to other things.
Funnily enough, what originally was a temporary job (to kill the time before I joined the met) has now become a viable career and I am in a managerial position. I feel more positive towards my current employer who have recognised my potential and given me room to develop, whereas from the Met I received a 'thanks, but fancy doing it for free?'
As time progresses I feel less and less enamoured with the Met. I need to be communicated to, I need to have the next step to look forward to. I'm waiting for the election and hoping, praying that things will change. In the mean time, I'm going to keep on trucking and focus on the day to day. If I focus too much on the met, I sincerely think that disappointment will overcome me and I'll lose all positivity.
Keep reminding yourself that there are an infinite possibility of worlds, many more worse than this one we currently find ourselves in, everything's just so uncertain.

I have just found out that a close friend who applied to join Dorset at the same time as I did, but failed the paper sift, has recently re-applied, passed paper sift and just got 68% on his day 1..... He's been told he will start before the end of the year almost without doubt....
Now, not being bitter, but I dont really class my dear friend as being the sharpest spanner in fridge, but his 68% compared to my 59% was a kick in the teeth.... must be because he is already a pcso.... I dunno.... but my god has it made me realise just how much time has passed since I originally signed up for this malarkey. And it's a bit of a slap in the face to know he might be in the job before me, even though he only succesfully got through recruitment 12months after I did......
