I'm wondering because I was reading one of the white papers or something where a newly promoted sergeant had asked to act-up with a more experience sergeant for a month and the request was denied and he was thrown in at the deep in. He survived but his complaint was that he would have been more effective in his role with more otj experience and guidance.</P>]]>

Actually i have to say&nbsp;, it was good fun ...... great blokes on my course ...... and we learned alot ...... I bet the skipper training is nowhere near that now ........ don't you get made up, and do a year as a temp Sergeant and THAT's it ??? ( not sure ) BUT Christ , minimal training , leads to monkeys in stripes! ]]>

We have a duty of care for people up to a certain point and when we can discharge that duty responsibly we should as a police officer is a valuable resource and not one best used babysitting someone at A&amp;E for 5 hours.</P><DIV>Personally I think A&amp;E would&nbsp;be the best place for him as he has taken a substance that is highly volatile and could have potential catastrophic effects.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Do we arrest every person we find paraletically drunk? No. If we did we would grind to a halt. The same approach should be made to those who have self inflicted intoxication by misuse of drugs.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>]]>
